Team Canada 2010 Olympic Hockey Team Roster

The Canadian Olympic Hockey Team 2010 roster was released today and already hockey analysts all over have begun to debate the roster for Team Canada witch is also the host country of the 2010 Olympics that will be held in Vancouver in February. The team hopes that it can improve on the disappointing seventh place finish at the last Olympic Games and perhaps bring back the gold like they did in 2002. The roster has some return players but a lot of new faces with the hope to bring in a younger hockey generation.

Steve Yzerman has put together a solid team for this Olympics. However, I disagree with the selection of Patrice Bergeron and Brent Seeabrook. I hope to be proven wrong by both of them.

The possible lines of Nash-Crosby-Iginla, Marleau-Thornton-Heatley, and Staal-Getzlaf-Perry, Morrow-Toews-Richards seems too surreal!

The chemistry that this team is able to have is a luxury, especially with the Thornton and Getzlaf lines.

On defense, we have several vets to go along with a few youngsters. It may be risky having so much youth on the blue-line, but you have to move on to build for the future I guess.

Lastly, between the pipes we are absolutely solid. 3 proven goalies get their chance at gold. Brodeur is arguably the best goalie this year and having back-ups like Luongo and Fleury, I feel very safe.

Now with Bergeron expected to miss a minimum of 2 weeks with a right-hand injury, it will be interesting to see his status on this Canadian Olympic team. Whether or not he stays on remains to be seen, but I believe their are better candidates to fill his void such as Jeff Carter.

Go for gold!
